The history of the department
The Technical Faculty of Aktobe Regional State University named after K. Zhubanov was formed in 1991 on the basis of the engineering and pedagogical faculty. The only department of “General technical disciplines” was the engineering and pedagogical faculty. He noted that the main task of the faculty and department was to prepare teachers for Labor lessons. On the basis of this specialty, through the development of general technical disciplines (theoretical mechanics, resistance of materials, materials science, applied mechanics, hydraulics, machine parts, schematic geometry and drawing, fundamentals of standardization), the basis for future engineers has been formed.
With the support of the rector of the University K. K. Kenzhebayev, the basis of the technical faculty was formed by invited candidate of technical sciences, professor D. D. Izbembetov from Karaganda Polytechnic Institute. With the direct participation of this citizen, the personnel and material base of the faculty and the Department of metallurgy was formed. For this purpose, experienced scientific and pedagogical specialists from Karaganda were invited: doctor of historical sciences, professor R. D. Simbinov. candidate of historical sciences, professor K. zh.Simbinova. candidate of historical sciences A. H. Nurymgaliev. the purpose of the seminar:, Ph. D., Ph. D., Ph. D., Ph. D. Kaskin was also involved in the creation of laboratories in the above-mentioned disciplines. During this period, initial research work was carried out with the Aktobe ferroalloy plant. The plant was provided with the necessary technologies-the technology of cutting raw materials, the introduction of innovations in traditional technologies of ferroalloy production using the converter method, etc.
In order to effectively use the natural resources of the West Kazakhstan region in accordance with the requirements of the time, various industries began to be created in Aktobe in the last decades of the XX century. Their main directions were: oil and gas, mining, and Mineral Processing Industries. In accordance with these requirements, on September 1, 1996, with the support of the regional administration, K. Zhubanov Aktobe university opened specialties for training technical personnel: in 1996-Chemical Technology of inorganic substances; in 1996-automotive and automotive industry; In 1996 – metallurgy of ferrous metals; in 1998 – traffic management; in 1999 – Chemical Technology of ignition and hydrocarbon materials; in 2000 – Chemical Technology of organic substances; in 2001-Chemical Technology of oil and gas and coal; in 2002 – Chemical Technology of organic substances; in 2002 – design; in 2003 – development and operation of oil and gas fields; in 2004-oil and gas business (as a continuation of the specialty development and operation of oil and gas fields); in 2010 – construction; in 2010-mining; in 2019-mineral enrichment.
The dean of the faculty is candidate of historical sciences, professor D. D. Izbembetov. the purpose of the seminar: the purpose of the seminar: doctor of technical sciences, professor E. S. Aitaliyev. the purpose of the seminar: candidate of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor A. zh.Murzagaliyev worked at a high professional level. Since February 2020, the dean of the technical faculty is candidate of technical sciences, associate professor Balgynova a.m.

In 2016, the department was renamed the Department of “Metallurgy and mining”.
The first graduates of the specialty “engineer-metallurgist” in 2001
In 2018, the department opened a master’s degree in the specialties “Metallurgy”, in 2019-“mining” in order to train highly qualified specialists. About 20 employees of Aktobe ferroalloy plant were enrolled in this opened master’s program to improve their knowledge.
Students of the Department of” metallurgy and mining “pass industrial practice at the Aktobe ferroalloy plant of TNK” Kazchrom”, Donsky processing plant and are branches of the Department of” MTS tractor “LLP,” Lotos Aktobe ” LLP.
The department has a student scientific circle “24 ELEMENT”. The main goal of the circle is to develop students ‘ creative initiatives at the level of researchers (scientists), managers, practitioners in accordance with the requirements of modern training of specialists, and apply the achievements of the scientific and technical process in practice.
