Equipped laboratories (classrooms).
At the Department of Metallurgy and Mining, laboratory classes are conducted according to the curriculum. All disciplines are provided by guidelines for laboratory studies with specific tasks.
Practical laboratory training at the department is 100%. There are the following laboratories and classrooms:
Room № 10 – Laboratory of Technology of Metallurgical Production;
Room №13 – Laboratory of Raw Materials Preparation for Metallurgical Production, where laboratory classes on various topics are carried out, for example:
Obtaining of raw pellets from iron ore materials.
Reinforcing of firing of pellets.
Agglomeration of iron ores and concentrates.
Determination of the yield of a suitable agglomerate and its strength.

Metallurgy and Mining Department of ARSU has a branch at Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant, a branch of TNK Kazkhrom JSC. Practical and laboratory works on the disciplines: “Theory and technology of production of ferroalloys”, “Theory and technology of production of chromium alloys”, “Metallurgical production technology – 1 and 2”, “Theory and technology of electric steel production”, “Fundamentals of scientific research and KNIR” as well as scientific and research diploma works of the 4th year students are carried out in this branch.
Semi-industrial electric arc furnace with a capacity of 1 t (DPST-1) acts at the branch of Metallurgy and Mining Department at LLP “Electrometallurgy”. This furnace is designed for smelting steel of high quality grade, various types of ferroalloys (ferromolybdenum, ferrochromium, ferromanganese, etc.), copper and nickel mattes, titanium slag and non-ferrous precious metals.
