Educational and scientific activities of the department

The whole package of teaching and methodical documentation has been developed and approved for all disciplines of bachelors training programs. Presentations of lectures on special bachelor’s disciplines using an interactive whiteboard are used in educational process. Such disciplines as “Labor Protection and Life Safety”, “Theory and Technology of Electric Steel Production”, “Construction and Design of Metallurgical Aggregates”, “Fundamentals of Project Development and Design of Metallurgical Facilities.” Are provided with teaching stands. Classrooms and laboratories of the department are equipped with personal computers and interactive whiteboard sets. These computers are used by teachers and staff of the department to develop curriculum and by students in their research works, thesis writing. All laboratory works are provided with methodical instructions and manuals.

The main directions of the department’s scientific work are:

  • Energy-efficient and resource-saving technology of crushing ferromaterials
  • Development of resource-saving technology for complex processing of poor and sub-standard raw materials of the South Kempirsay deposit with obtaining competitive products
  • Development of technology for obtaining competitive chromium ferroalloys from technogenic raw materials formed during the redistribution of chromic raw materials
  • Development of technology for smelting refined ferrochromium grades with liquidation of the process of self-deposition of slag by using complex reducing agents to reduce the technogenic load on the environment
  • Development of technologies for processing technogenic wastes of industrial enterprises in the Aktyubinsk region with the receipt of a competitive marketable product
  • Development and improvement of mining and metallurgical complex production technologies
  • Managing the development of technological schemes and parameters in the complexes of cyclic-flow technology of deep quarries.

Generalized research results are presented in the form of monographs, textbooks, educational and methodological aids, inventions, articles and then used in teaching process. Students of 3-4 courses are involved in scientific research. The best graduates who are interested in further scientific research continue their education at postgraduate study.

Dual education: classes at the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant of JSC TNC Kazchrome

As part of the dual education program and cooperation with JSC TNC Kazchrome, our students from the Department of Metallurgy and Mining visit the Aktobe Ferroalloy Plant to participate in practical classes. This became possible thanks to the agreement concluded between the university and the enterprise.

Practical training in production

At the plant, students not only study theory, but also gain valuable practical skills, working with the latest equipment and technologies in real production conditions. This allows future engineers to deepen their knowledge in the field of metallurgy.

Support from JSC TNC Kazchrome

Classes are held under the guidance of leading specialists of the enterprise, which promotes close interaction between science and production. Thanks to the support of JSC TNC Kazchrome, our students get a unique opportunity to develop professional competencies and be ready for work immediately after graduation.
